Dog Days of Summer

Summer has taken on a new meaning for me this year.  Perhaps not a new meaning altogether so much as new parameters.  In the past, the "end" of summer was dictated by this:

and this:

and this:

By these definitions, Labor Day was it.  By the time this long weekend hit, I was well out of one thing and into the next, bringing an end to my summer and a beginning to the fall.  This year, it isn't quite that way.  Labor Day Weekend is over (more on that in my next post) but it doesn't feel like an end at all.  I'm thinking I'll go with the pagans this year and define my summer's end by the Autumnal Equinox later this month.  Still plenty of adventures to be had between now and then :)

Which brings us to the beginning portion of this blog post's title phrase: dogs.  I was going through some files on my camera's memory card earlier this evening in an effort to either save everything onto my laptop or delete it.  I ran across a couple videos I took of the pooches and couldn't help but laugh a little.  It reminded me of how thankful I am for them.  They can be so taxing.  Paying for food and vet bills, refilling the holes they dig in the yard, etc.  But at the end of the day, they are worth it.  You can't put a price on the joy they bring us, be it while we are playing outside with them or just chillin' at home.  For you dog lovers out there (and even for those who are not!) here are some of the pictures and videos that reminded me of this:

Sierra has taken lately to sleeping in the back of our closet....weirdo

Below is a video of how excited Lucy was to see me when I woke up one morning.  She'd already been fed and let out by Leni so it's legit excitement for me, not the morning routine :)

Regardless of the excitement portrayed in the video above, the dogs can be big snobs.  Like when they hang out with my brother's dog, Dottie.  While they do get along with her and play with her sometimes, they can be huge snobs toward Dottie.  When she wants to play or pal around, they tend to be "too cool for school" toward her, as shown in the next video:

Okay thanks for hanging in there with the annoying dog stuff.  I don't do it often so be thankful.

Here's to another 2 weeks of summer before the equinox.  Let's see what we can squeeze in!

Keep It Real!
